From the beach cottages to the west communities
Near Atlantic Avenue and the Lake Ida neighborhoods, Delray is historic cottages and tropical-modern renovations on compact lots, where a front yard is basically a front room. West of the turnpike it opens into family communities with bigger lawns and HOA review. Two very different design problems, and we enjoy both.
What we do here
Complete design and installation with plants that handle the coastal side's salt and sun, landscape lighting that makes those Delray evenings count, and artificial turf for compact side yards and dog runs that real grass cannot survive.
What Delray yards ask for
The older streets in town have something money cannot rush, real mature trees. Designing under an established canopy is different work than planting a bare lot. More shade-tolerant layers, more respect for the roots that got there first. Closer to the Intracoastal the salt and the breeze pick the plant list for you, and we do not fight it. And in the gated communities out west, the game is HOA standards and clean formal structure. Three different Delrays, three different plant lists, one honest process.
Design that fits the house
Delray has old Florida cottages and brand-new white modern boxes, sometimes on the same street. The landscape has to match the architecture or the whole thing looks rented. That is a design call we make on the walk, with you, before a single plant is ordered. Lighting finishes it, and Delray evenings deserve good lighting.
